Indonesia : Host Of The First World Ocean Conference WOC May 2009 In Manado City
Indonesia will become host of the first World Ocean Conference or WOC from 11 to 15 May 2009 in Manado City, North Sulawesi Island. There are around 150 countries will come with 2,500 to 3,000 participants.
The theme is “Climate Change Impacts to Ocean and The Role of Ocean to Climate Change”. The main agenda is to build commitment for sustainable management of marine resources on “Manado Ocean Declaration”.
The key speakers are President of Indonesia, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Secretary-General of UNO, Former Vice President of United States, Prince of The Netherlands, Prime Minister of China, Prime Minister of Australia, Former President of Indonesia Mr. B.J. Habibie, and Former Environment Minister of Indonesia, Mr. Emil Salim.
At the same time, Manado also will become host of Coral Triangle Initiative CTI Summit 2009, with participants from 6 countries, i.e: Indonesia, Philippines, Papua Nugini, Timor Leste, Malaysia, and Solomon Island, and supported by Australia, USA, and world NGO consortium.
Manado also will become host for Global Forum 2009.
